Joked to police on street that he fit the description of killer and he was arrested. In May 1934, DeMore falsely confessed and pled guilty to the murder to escape a death sentence police threatened him with if he would be convicted after a trial. He was exonerated when the real killer was captured and confessed. Missouri Gov. Park pardoned DeMore in Oct. 1934. |
